DESCRIPTION
FLEXIBLE PVC WATERPROOFING JOINT
GREENSTREAK FLEXIBLE BELTS
Concrete structures are only as waterproof as the flexible bands that join them. GREENSTREAK flexible belts stop leaks before they start. At joints in concrete structures where one side is subject to hydrostatic pressure.
BASIC USE OF FLEXIBLE BANDS
Embedded in the concrete, through and along the joint, the band forms a continuous waterproof diaphragm that prevents the passage of fluids through the joint.
TYPICAL CONCRETE STRUCTURES REQUIRING BELT:
- Primary and secondary containment structures.
- Dams, locks, canals, water reservoirs and aqueducts.
- Black water treatment plants.
- Water treatment plants. § Culverts and tunnels.
- Storage tanks.
- Retaining walls.
- Bridge buttresses and decks.
- Foundations.
- Roof tiles.
- Parking garages.
CONSIDERATIONS IN THE SELECTION OF THE BAND
In concrete structures, bands must be designed to allow for expansion, contraction, and other lateral and transverse movements that may cause joints to open, close, or misalign. In addition to being the correct size and design to allow for the expected movement in the structure, the band material must also be compatible with the concrete system used in a particular environment and with fluids and chemicals.
TYPES OF JOINTS IN CONCRETE
Contraction Joint (Control) – Contraction joints are weakening planes designed to control the location of cracks due to drying shrinkage of concrete.
Expansion joint (insulation) – Expansion joints separate or isolate adjoining concrete structures (walls, slabs, columns) protecting them from compressive stresses that can develop due to thermal expansion, settlement, crushing, deflections due to live load, contraction by crush drying. Both types of differential movements, transverse and lateral, can exist in this joint.
construction board – Construction joints are determined by interruptions in the placement of concrete.
